Jewelry is the art form of Lauren Pollaro. The one-of-a-kind pieces are constructed from collages of her acrylic paintings placed within patinated sterling silver of varying shapes and forms. Embellishments to the assemblages include epoxy resin inlay, pottery shards, twigs, beach stones, semi-precious stones and found objects. Pollaro loves what happens when combining dissimilar materials - what is most challenging and rewarding for her is creating a harmonious combination.

"It is my intent to create art pieces that are accessible and functional to people in everyday life; and the scale of jewelry is so intimate. I'm thankful to have found an approach to jewelry design and construction that allows me to express my love for color and texture and the freedom to work with a wide range of materials".

Born in Brooklyn, New York in 1962, Lauren grew up in a family of accomplished artists. She went on to earn a degree in the Fine Arts from the University of New Hampshire and soon after was involved in the graphic arts becoming the art director for several magazines. She has now returned to her art in a wearable form and is an independent jeweler working in her home studio in York, Maine.
